The Connecticut Section Nominates Suzy Whaley as a Candidate for the Office of Secretary of The PGA of America

The campaign is officially underway for Whaley and three others who have their sights on becoming President of the Association in 2018

ROCKY HILL, CONN. (January 5, 2014) – The Connecticut Section PGA Board of Directors has officially nominated PGA Professional Suzy Whaley as a candidate seeking the office of Secretary of The PGA of America. Whaley, who is coming off serving a three-year term as the District 1 Director on the Association Board of Directors, received the section’s endorsement at last month’s Board of Directors meeting. “Our section board and past presidents feel strongly that Suzy would be a passionate leader of our Association,” said Section President Mike O’Grady, the head golf professional at Lake Waramaug Country Club in New Preston, Conn. “We are proud to nominate her for this office and we welcome the challenge of helping her achieve this goal.”

Whaley now becomes only the third PGA Professional from the Connecticut Section in its 80-year history to seek the national office of Secretary, a position that inevitably leads to the position as President of The PGA of America after completing successive two-year terms as Secretary and then Vice President. Previously nominated were section Past Presidents Terry Crawford (now affiliated with the New Jersey Section) in 1995 and Ralph Salito, head professional at the Club at River Oaks in Sherman, Conn., in 2011.
