Pre-Apprentice

Individuals new to the golf profession, who are eligibly employed as defined by PGA Bylaws and looking to enter the Professional Golf Management (PGM) program may become a Pre-Apprentice with the section. This is a one-time, two-year only opportunity and the fee is $100 per year. A Pre-Apprentice is eligible to play in Assistants’ Association events and attend section education programs and section meetings upon payment of any required fees.

Pre-Apprentice Registration Forms are available from the section office and are required along with attendance at an annual Pre-Apprentice Initiation which is held in the spring each year at the section office, Connecticut Golf House. The 2010 Initiation will be held on Tuesday, April 20.

The Pre-Apprentice Initiation is designed to bring all new golf professionals together at the section office to provide them with an orientation on section programs and privileges. Items on the agenda include information about the Assistants' Association, PAT, and PGM registration procedures. Attendance at this function is mandatory for Pre-Apprentices to receive section privileges.

If, on the two-year anniversary of registration with the section, the Pre-Apprentice is not gainfully registered as a PGA of America Apprentice in the PGM, his/her section affiliation as a Pre-Apprentice shall be terminated and section privileges shall cease.
