Drive for the Game
The Drive For The Game campaign is the primary fund raising initiative of the section and its PGA Professionals for the Connecticut Section PGA Golf Foundation, Inc. This program is vital to sustain the section's Junior Golf Association and Junior Golf TOUR as well as dozens of other organizations which cannot operate without the Foundation's financial support.
Birdie Days of Summer
The Connecticut Section PGA Golf Foundation and the Junior Golf Association (JGA) are looking for help in starting this new and exciting fundraising program. The JGA is a fun and welcoming place for youth golfers aged 10-18 to be able to compete and play at some of the areas top courses in Connecticut (excluding Fairfield County) and Western Massachusetts. Boys and girls who have played on the TOUR have gone on to play at the collegiate level and some are now PGA Professionals in our Section. Each year the Foundation completely underwrites the Junior TOUR because of the fundraising efforts of our PGA Professionals. Because of these efforts, JGA member dues and tournament dues have not changed in nine years! We hope to continue this trend and want you to involve yourself through this initiative. The Foundation also helps support other causes around the section such as Special Olympics, Golfers in Motion, PGA Junior League, and many more.
Modeled after PGA Professional Stan McLennan's program at Suffield Country Club, this program aims to engage Certifying Professionals, JGA Members, and their respective golf clubs in a summer long fundraising effort. Each JGA member and his or her certifying professional will collect pledge donations for each birdie made while on the Junior Golf TOUR this season. Birdies will be tracked throughout the season and each club can display the results in their own manner.
All participants in this fundraiser will gain access to the PGA Pro-Junior tournament at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass. This event is open to only 75 entrants so it is very beneficial to have first crack at this fun and exciting event.
Ask your certifying PGA Professional about the program and how to collect donations. Any questions can also be directed to the Section Office as well.
