CLINTON, Conn. (October 15, 2012) - As the first two rounds of The 22nd Match Play Championship come to a close at Clinton Country Club, the action and nerves are high. As one could have imagined PGA Life Member, Section Player of the Year, as well as Senior Player of the Year, Fran Marrello (1 seed) advances on to the Sweet Sixteen, set to face Greg Farland (16) of Quaboag Country Club following his one up victory today.
Also alive in the Match Play is five-time Connecticut PGA Champion, Tony Kelley (2) of Wyckoff Country Club who will battle Tim Gavronski (18) of Shuttle Meadow Country Club whose Round of 32 was won in an extra hole. Ian Marshall (8) of Watertown Golf Club barely squeaked out the victory over Marc Bayram (25) of Timberlin Golf Club who put up quite the fight against The Spring Stroke Play Champion and 2012 Travelers Championship Qualifier.View More

Cleveland Golf/Srixon Big Contributors & Announce "Kids Need Golf" Agreement
BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (October 11, 2012) - Host PGA Professional, Bob Kay and Ian Marshall of Watertown Golf Club fired one-under-par at Tumble Brook Country Club to win the season-long PGA Professional Golf League. Kay and Marshall earned a whopping 30 points in division play and tied for first in the Championship to earn 35.50 points and beat out second place finishers John Vitale of Hawkes Landing G.C. and Joe Mongillo of Dick's Sporting Goods by 3.50 points overall.
A new agreement was also announced during the PGA Professional Golf League Championship entered into by the Connecticut Section PGA and Cleveland Golf/Srixon. The new program is called "Kids Need Golf" (KNG) and their primary focus is developing junior golf by supporting the Connecticut PGA Junior Golf Association and Junior Golf TOUR. Cleveland Golf/Srixon will be allocating a percentage of all product pre-booked for Spring and Fall of 2013. Based on 2012 numbers, this could mean $5,000 for a TOUR in which keeping costs down for participants is a must. Aldrich/Smith Defeat Carney/Judson in Playoff for PGA Pro-Am Championship

OLD LYME, Conn (October 1, 2012) - PGA Professional, Patrick Aldrich of Sharon Country Club and amateur partner, Cameron Smith defeated Mike Carney, PGA of Watertown Country Club and amateur partner, Frank Judson, in a playoff for the Mohegan Sun PGA Pro-Am Championship today at Black Hall Club after both teams fired two-under-par 69. Aldrich and Smith claimed victory on the par 4, 10th with a par. In sole third place was Kevin Mahaffy of Pequabuck Golf Club and partner Ryan Phillipp at one-under-par, 70.

Kelley Captures Fifth Connecticut PGA Championship in Playoff
Kelley’s Fourth Championship at Ellington Ridge Country ClubELLINGTON, Conn. – Four-time Champion, Tony Kelley of Wyckoff Country Club admitted he was not sure if he could in fact win the Connecticut PGA Championship for a fifth. However, after fantastic play in the first two rounds of the 81st Connecticut PGA Championship presented by E-Z-GO and Mohegan Sun at Ellington Ridge Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, Kelley found himself in second place, at even par, just two strokes behind 2012 Assistant Champion, Kyle Bilodeau of Race Brook Country Club.
In the final round, Bilodeau finished with a 70-72-72 and Kelley finished with 70-74-70, taking the longest running professional golf tournament in Connecticut into extra holes. After just bogeying the par 4, 18th, Kelley knew he had to regroup for the win. Earlier, Bilodeau scrambled for an incredible par from the right trees and was looking to improve.

Shooting 70, 72 for a total of 142, Bilodeau leads the longest running professional golf tournament in Connecticut by two strokes.
Tony Kelley of Wyckoff Country Club trails by two strokes at even par, 70, 74 for a total of 144. Tied for third at two-over-par 146 is Ed Slattery of Candlewood Valley Country Club and Jordan Gosler of Mancehster Country Club.
Gramelis Leads 81st Connecticut PGA Championship at Three Under
Eleven PGA Pros Within Two Strokes of the LeadELLINGTON, Conn. (September 24, 2012) – The first round of the 81st Connecticut PGA Championship presented by E-Z-GO and Mohegan Sun afforded a sole leader today at Ellington Ridge Country Club. Mike Gramelis of Golf Galaxy fired a three-under-par 69 tying his low Connecticut PGA tournament round this year under sunny skies and incredible course conditions.
“The course is in absolutely perfect condition,” says Connecticut PGA Rules & Competitions Director, John Klug, “The rough is challenging as it should be and the greens are fast. It is truly in Championship caliber condition.”
Three PGA Professionals, Jordan Gosler of Manchester Country Club, Kyle Bilodeau of Race Brook Country Club, and Tony Kelley of Wyckoff Country Club, sit just one stroke back of Gramelis at two-under-par, 70. In sole fifth place at even par is PGA Life Member, 2012 Senior Player of the Year, and 2012 Senior PGA Champion, Fran Marrello.

Coming in third were teams led by host Director of Golf, Mike Carney and PGA Professional, Joshua Lebeau of Westover Golf Course with seven-under-par 135.
