OMEGA Player of the Year Standings
The Connecticut Section OMEGA Player of the Year competition is a player performance points standing that is tracked during the Tournament Season for PGA Members of the Connecticut Section. There are two divisions: (1) All PGA Members and (2) Senior Only (age 50+) PGA Members. The Points rankings are used to determine who earns berths on the PGA Team for the annual Julius Boros Challenge Cup Matches.

The OMEGA Section PGA Player of the Year is identified as the Bob Shea award winner. The OMEGA Player of the Year's name is engraved on the Bob Shea perpetual plaque that is located at the Connecticut Section PGA home office in South Glastonbury.
2016 Player of the Year Standings
The top finishers in each Player of the Year race will be competing for the following prize purse:
As stated in the Tournament Rules and Regulations, performance points will be awarded as follows:
*The Connecticut Open: Points will be awarded to all competitors that complete the first two rounds (excludes all WD, DNS, NC and DQ). Connecticut Section PGA Professional that wins will receive an additional 25 point bonus.
* Excludes WD, NC, DQ.
Travelers Championship Pre-Qualifier: The number of points to the top place finisher will be determined by the number of section professionals entered and then be reduced by one point for each place finish so that last place will receive one point.
MGA Massachusetts Open: Qualify- 10 points; Connecticut PGA Professional that wins the MGA Massachusetts Open Championship receives 25 bonus points.
U.S. Open: Alternate-15 points; Qualify for Regional- 25 points; Qualify for Open- 50 points; Make the Cut- 100 points (cumulative).
Qualify for Travelers Championship through Open Qualifying: 25 points.
Travelers Championship: Make the Cut- 75 points.
PGA Championship: Qualify- 80 points; Make the Cut; 100 points; Win the Event- 500 points.
The National PGA Professional Championship: Participate- 10 points; Make the Cut- 25 points; Win the Event- 100 points.
PGA Tour (Other than the Travelers Championship): Qualify for Event- 25 points; Win the Event- 150 points.
Qualify for the New England Open: 10 points.
Senior Player of the Year Performance Points
Senior Points are awarded to section-affiliated senior professionals at the following senior-only designated events for section-affiliated professional place-finish. Senior ONLY points are then combined with any points that are earned off the regular OMEGA Player of the Points schedule above.
*All players participating in the Senior PGA Professional National Championship Qualifier will receive 5 points.
* Manchester Open and Western Massachusetts Open points are awarded only if the Tournament offers a Senior Division.
U.S. Senior Open: Qualifying- 100 points; Make the Cut- Additional 50 points.
Senior PGA Professional National Championship: Make the Cut- 25 points.
PGA Senior Championship: Qualifying- 50 points; Make the Cut- Additional 50 points.
