Keney Park Golf Course in Hartford, Connecticut, will host both the Boys and Girls Junior PGA Championship in 2019. The Girls Junior PGA Championship will be contested July 9-12, while the Boys will tee it up July 30-August 2.
These Championships are two of junior golf’s major Championships. These events will feature 144 of the best males and females junior golfers from over 40 states and a few countries. Sign up early to secure your position on a choice committee!
Please note that we recommend that volunteers work for a minimum of two shifts. However, there are some committees that do have a two-shift requirement. Many committees have shifts that require volunteers to stay on duty until 30 minutes after the end of play.
Below are descriptions of the different committees that you can become involved with as a volunteer. Also emphasized below are the shift days and times when volunteers are most needed on each committee.
Marshals will be assigned to various holes on the golf course. They will assists with ball spotting in the rough and assist players, parents, and officials in enjoying the championship (O).
Committee members post the Player’s scores on leaderboards located throughout the golf course. Leaderboards display the top eight Players and how they stand for both the day and the Championship (O,C)
Committee members will help PGA Staff With Walking Scores and Leaderboards (I, C, O)
Walking scorers are responsible for keeping score for the girls for the final two rounds of the Championship. You should have golf knowledge for this committee. (O, C, W)
Additional volunteer assignments: shuttle services, golf range assistance and general services
(C) Computer use
(I) Assignment is indoor in climate controlled area
(O) Assignment is outdoors. potential for varied weather conditions
(W) Ability to walk 18 holes and brisk pace
