William Street claims Stableford Points Tournament for PGA Members

The 2018 Walter Lowell PGA Tournament  was played at Wethersfield Country Club on Tuesday, May 29, in Wethersfield, CT.  The field of 80 professionals enjoyed a great day honoring one of the sections most respected PGA professional and 1978 PGA Golf Professional of the Year, Walter Lowell.

The day kicked off Westwoods Golf Course being awarded with the 2018 Walter Lowell Public Golf Course Distinguished Service Award.  Westwoods is being recognized for the course’s unwavering efforts to make golf fun, accessible to all, and for the advancement in the understanding of the game’s Rules of Golf and etiquette among its patrons.

Golf got underway following the award presentation with the field of PGA Members participating in an individual stableford competition with participants being divided and paired into four divisions based upon years of PGA Membership, all named for golf’s four 2018 major championship sites: Augusta National, Shinnecock Hills, Carnoustie, Bellerive.

William Street (Whitney Farms GC) scored 25 points to be crowned the 2018 Walter Lowell PGA Tournament Champion and take home the $1200 first place prize.  Joe Condomitti (Bull's Bridge) earned 22 points and won a scorecard playoff over Thomas Cook (GREATHORSE) to win the Augusta National division.  In the Shinnecock Hills division, Kevin Mahaffy (Pequabuck GC) scored 23 points and earned the win after Street was crowned overall champion.  The Carnoustie division was won by Mike Martin (Clubs To Go) who earned 22 points while the Bellerive division was claimed by David Dell (Springfield CC) who also posted 22 points to earn the win in the division.
