In order to help the Connecticut Section PGA conduct its Junior golf programs, in 2005, The Jack Kelly Junior Golf Classic made the largest financial contribution that the Connecticut Section PGA Golf Foundation has ever received. Jack Kelly was a PGA Professional at Raceway Golf Club who passed away in 1994 at the age of 34.
The Raceway Golf Club began and conducted this tournament for 11 years. It was one of the founding tournaments of the PGA Junior Golf TOUR. To show its appreciation, the Connecticut Section PGA Golf Foundation pays tribute to both the ideals formulated by the late Jack Kelly and the efforts made by the committee members and event sponsors that resulted in an extremely successful junior golf tournament.

Following high school, many JGA Members continue playing golf in different ways where some have the opportunity to represent their college or university playing on the golf team. As we round out 2011, and make way for 2012, high school seniors in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts solidify their choice for higher education which includes further development in the game of golf.
