Rosati and Hong Lead After Round One of the 47th Junior Connecticut PGA Championships

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (June 28, 2022) – Robby Rosati and Kate Hong each recorded five birdies on their back nines today at Tumble Brook Country Club propelling them to the top of their respective leaderboards in the 47th Junior Connecticut PGA Championships.

Hong, class of 2022 from Old Greenwich, made the front nine turn on the Tumble Brook Park Nine at two over par 38. She then proceeded to birdie holes 10 through 14 on the Fazio Nine. Her lone bogey came on hole 17 that gave her a 4-under par 32 and 2-under par total of 70.

Hong leads by three strokes in the Girls Championship over defending champion Tiffany Chan (class of 2022 from Kent) who shot 73; and by four strokes over Emily Luo (74 – class of 2024 from Danville, Calif.).

Meanwhile, Rosati (class of 2026 from Stratford) leads in the Boys Championship, recording a 5-under par 67. Rosati turned at even par on the Park Nine and then recorded five birdies and no bogeys on the Fazio Nine.

Rosati takes a two-stroke lead over Austin Perkins Jr. (class of 2026 from West Hartford) who shot 69 into tomorrow’s final round. Another stroke back at 70 are Elias Kennon (class of 2023 from Old Greenwich) and Will Gregware (class of 2024 from West Hartford). Gregware tied for fifth in last year’s championship.

Defending champion Connor Goode (class of 2022 from Glastonbury) is tied for 13th after shooting 73.

Both 36-hole championships conclude tomorrow.

The top two finishers in each of the championships will earn spots in the PGA of America Junior Championships that take place August 2-5, 2022, at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Palos Park, Illinois.
