Aoife Devaney Leads Hartford Women’s Open by Two Entering Tomorrow’s Final Round

HARTFORD, Conn. (July 24, 2023) – Aoife Devaney of Waterbury, Conn., had just one bogey in an otherwise exquisite round of golf today at Keney Park Golf course in the first round of the 8th annual Hartford Women’s Open. Devaney posted a 4-under par 66 and took a 2-shot lead into tomorrow’s final round of the 36-hole championship.

Right out of the gate, Devaney felt confident she was heading for a good round.

Devaney stuffed her approach on her opening hole, resulting in birdie. She added another on hole 4 and turned the front nine with a 2-under par 33.

With brother Aidan caddying for Devaney, her lone bogey came on hole number 10, one of three par 5s on the when she ended up in a cross bunker after her second shot.

Unfazed, Devaney closed her round with three birdies on holes 14, 15, and 17.

Trailing Devaney is the 2021 Hartford Women’s Open champion Mia Grzywinski from Farmington, Conn. Grzywinski fired a 2-under par 68 in a round that featured three birdies and just one bogey as well.

Another stroke back at 1-under par 69 are Annie Dai (Longmeadow, Mass.), Laniah Moffett (Waterbury, Conn.), and Linda Wang (Plainview, N.Y.)

Tomorrow’s final round gets underway at 8:00 AM. Devaney, Grzywinski, and Moffett are in the final group and start at 11:27 AM.
