Brian Quilter Captures National Car Rental Connecticut Assistant PGA Professional Title
Earns Berth in 44th National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship taking place in Florida
STRATFORD, Conn. (August 11, 2020) – Brian Quilter, assistant professional at Black Hall Club, shot an even par 36-hole total of 142 at Mill River Country Club, winning the 58th Assistant Connecticut PGA Championship yesterday in a sudden death playoff.
Quilter fired a second round 2-under par 69 to caught and tie first round leader Eric Flood (68-74-142), assistant professional at The Farms Country Club.
Quilter won the playoff on the third playoff hole. Both Quilter and Flood will advance to the 44th National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The event is supported by Srixon, Cleveland Golf, XXIO, Asics and John Deere and is scheduled to be played November 12-15, 2020.
This is the second Assistant Connecticut PGA Championship title for Quilter, having also won in 2017 at Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, Mass.
Adam D’Amario (145 – Indian Hill CC); C.J. Konkowski (147 – Hartford GC); and Dan Simons (148 – Mill River CC) earned the alternate spots for the national championship.
The National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship brings together a field of 132 contestants representing the PGA of America’s 41 nationwide Sections and features a total purse of $150,000. All rounds will be played on the Wanamaker Course. A cut after 36 holes of play to the low 70 scorers and ties will be made.
